Data intelligence

We are living in a unique moment in history. Never before have we produced, collected or used as much data as we do today.

Every digital interaction, every journey, every purchase, every commercial transaction leaves a trail of information that, when properly processed, becomes knowledge.
Data has become a strategic resource, almost as essential as energy, and is changing the way we work, make decisions and innovate.
But how did we get here?

From clay tablets to the digital age

The desire to record information has accompanied humanity since its inception. Ancient civilisations already collected data on agriculture, trade and population to make more efficient decisions. For centuries, these records were manual, scattered and slow to process.

With the advent of computers in the 1950s, the way information was stored and analysed changed radically. Databases made it possible to organise large amounts of information, and the widespread digitisation of businesses in the 1990s and 2000s brought with it an explosion of new data. What was once the exception became routine: everything was now recorded.

The birth of data science

This rapid growth gave rise to a new need: transforming data into intelligence. Data science was born precisely from this convergence between statistics, technology and business knowledge. The first data scientists combined traditional analytical methods with new digital tools, seeking to answer the central question: what does the data tell us?

This discipline evolved rapidly. Programming languages dedicated to analysis, intuitive visualisation tools and databases capable of handling previously unthinkable volumes of information emerged. Little by little, data ceased to be a historical archive and became a strategic asset.

Big Data: when data no longer fits in files

Entering the era of Big Data meant facing a new challenge: managing gigantic amounts of data, generated in real time and in multiple formats: text, video, sensors, images, transactions, interactions on social networks. The simple act of using a smartphone generates thousands of data points per day.

Companies then needed new technological solutions capable of storing, processing and analysing this torrent of information. More than just a concept, Big Data is a change of scale that has enabled faster analysis, more reliable predictions and more informed decisions.

Artificial intelligence: data gains a ‘brain’

If data is the raw material, artificial intelligence (AI) is the force that learns patterns, makes predictions and takes automated decisions. In its traditional form, AI analysed historical patterns to predict future behaviour.

In recent years, we have witnessed the advancement of generative AI, capable of creating text, images, code, or simulations from large models trained on vast data sets. This new phase has brought with it new opportunities and challenges: more automation, more creative capacity, but also greater responsibility in the ethical use of data.

Today, AI is a natural part of our daily lives: in film recommendations, voice assistants, machine translation systems, maps that calculate the best route, and models that help companies predict the behaviour of their metrics.

Data intelligence in companies

For organisations, data intelligence represents a decisive competitive advantage. It is not just a matter of collecting information, but of converting it into concrete actions: optimising processes, anticipating trends, strengthening internal efficiency and supporting strategic decisions.

In the context of Grupo Base, these principles have long been part of our way of working. With years of accumulated experience, we have become true specialists in data intelligence, developing internal tools, methodologies and talent that today allow us not only to be advanced users of these solutions, but also providers and exporters of this knowledge.

The launch of Vera’s activity reflects this maturity: what we have learned and built ‘in-house’ is ready to reach other markets, backed by internally trained teams with in-depth knowledge of the specificities of the automotive sector.

The future: data as a driver of evolution and a commitment to innovation

The road ahead is challenging and exciting. We closely follow AI trends and integrate them in a mature and responsible manner, always focusing on added value for the customer.

That is why we will move forward, internally, with a proof of concept in artificial intelligence in collaboration with a specialist, strengthening our capacity for innovation.

Despite all the technology, the human factor remains irreplaceable. It is people who question, interpret, create, decide and set the course. Data intelligence is, at its core, a partnership between powerful systems and teams capable of transforming information into real impact, and it is in this spirit that Vera aims to grow in a sustained, focused and ambitious manner.
