UMM at the Caramulo Motorfestival
On 6 September, UMM attended the Caramulo Motorfestival to celebrate one of the most memorable chapters in its history: its courageous and pioneering participation in the Paris-Dakar rally in 1982, 1983 and 1984.
It was a moment of reunion and a fitting tribute to the drivers who had the audacity to take the Portuguese brand to the African dunes, challenging the unknown and leaving an indelible mark on international off-roading. The spirit of resilience, innovation and passion that they experienced in these adventures continues to inspire UMM and all those who believe in the strength of national ingenuity.
The highlight of the celebration was the official presentation of the UMM BM-00-93, meticulously restored by the UMM team over the last few months. This iconic vehicle has been returned to its original form, as a true symbol of the legacy it helped to build and a living testimony to the brand’s history.
The presence of the former drivers made the event even more special, bringing back memories, camaraderie and the excitement of the Dakar rallies. More than a tribute to UMM, this was a celebration of all those who, with courage and determination, wrote unforgettable pages in the history of Portuguese motor sport.
UMM would like to express its deep gratitude to all those who participated in this unique day. It was an honour to bring together those who were part of this epic journey, keeping alive the flame of a legacy that deserves to be remembered and celebrated by future generations.
